But good lord these people are dull, their vacation is dull (they do nothing and go nowhere.), and the "drama" is dull. I know that we are supposed to seeing a regular family (husband, wife, daughter, son, and daughter's female college friend) spend a week in a nice house in the middle of nowhere. Speaking of dull, our victims are dull as dishwater. He isn't particularly frightening and he isn't entertaining. The Bad: I know this is a matter of taste to a point but lead bad guy Neville Archambault just doesn't do it for me. I can see this as a film that feeds into various suburban paranoia about vacation rentals and Airbnb. And she is turning into one of those white suburban women who is convinced that there are swarthy men in vans looking to kidnap them from Sephora. She does like true crime thrillers, however. She doesn't like horror movies as a rule. She isn't asking for the 4k Ultra Bluray release for Christmas or anything but she genuinely enjoyed it to the point that she asked if we could watch the first one. It really would have been surprisingly easy to imagine this as such, so let us all be thankful that at least the filmmakers didn't do that. The Good: First of all this is not a found footage film. Needless to say I was very impressed by this film, and while I don't think it's quite as good as the original it is certainly still worth watching.ฤก4 Cameras: 4 out of 10: In the direct sequel to 13 Cameras our creepy stalker guy kidnaps some women and spies on an average family on vacation. '14 Cameras' though keeps every thing very coherent by defining characters and locations very well. Films that try to do too much can sometimes become confusing and lose focus. It meant that no one story felt too stretched and it kept everything feeling fresh and exciting for the duration of the film. At first I thought they might have been being too ambitious but it turns out it actually was a really good notion. There are three story-arcs being followed in the film. The villain was menacing, the victims were interesting (enough) characters and there were some scenes featuring excellent tension. I thought they might have been pushing it a little by throwing in a sequel, but to my pleasant surprise it was another really high quality edition to the series. It was a sleeper hit that I didn't really see coming. I was a big fan of the original '13 Cameras'.
