![]() ![]() □ Local modesīesides the superb online multiplayer component, ARKANOID - ETERNAL BATTLE also features the original 1986 arcade game, a brand-new campaign with Neo mode, and Versus mode where up to 4 local players can compete. I've only been playing against AI players so I'm excited to enjoy the old-school action with fellow fans when the game releases. It all comes together to form a frantic and enjoyable back-and-forth where anything can happen. Plus, as you play, you can throw power-ups to the player ahead or behind you in order to mess with their game. Although you have infinite respawns, the player with the lowest score will get booted after a while. Essentially, 25 players compete to be one of the final 4 then that group will face DOH in an epic boss battle yet only 1 player can claim victory. Let's get to the main event which is ARKANOID - ETERNAL BATTLE's titular mode. I don't think I'm going to last much longer. Now that I mention it, there aren't many options in general. My only complaint is that there aren't any display options. Also, each mode has its own visual style with the classic arcade game featuring a cabinet and even ambient sounds as if you're in a busy arcade. Not only is everything unambiguous, there's also a retro aesthetic that makes everything look like it's coming from a CRT television. ![]() □ Arcade sightsīefore discussing the modes more in-depth, I just wanted to say that the visuals of ARKANOID - ETERNAL BATTLE are exceptionally well-done. Best of all, though, is the fact that the classic gameplay remains intact and it's as fun as it was back in 1986. For the unfamiliar, its primary appeal is the brand-new multiplayer mode for up to 25 players but on top of that, there are a few other modes that you can enjoy. Well, my thirst for more has been satiated with the debut of ARKANOID - ETERNAL BATTLE and it's one excellent experience. Then, a couple years back, Space Invaders Forever released which whet my appetite yet again for more of the series with its inclusion of the innovative and entertaining Arkanoid vs. I've been a huge fan of ARKANOID ever since I played the original NES game and years later, I thoroughly enjoyed playing Doh It Again thanks to its clever use of the SNES Mouse. □ Old-school games beg for a physical release ARKANOID's back │ Nothing causes more disappointment than hype so at Video Chums, we avoid hyping games prior to playing them for ourselves.
